The SWITCHtoHEALTHY innovative multi-component intervention has set off on September 9th in Spain and Turkey. This comprehensive cross-cultural initiative is designed to promote adherence to the Mediterranean Diet through the introduction of new healthy and sustainable snacks, attractive educational materials, and digital tools.
Over 250 families have enrolled in the study, committing to modify their eating habits and monitor their progress under the supervision of the SWITCHtoHEALTHY researchers. The participants are divided into eight groups, and based on the cohort they belong to, they will have access to the reserved matierials on the dedicated areas of the website, will be using the SWITCHtoHEALTHY educational Apps, and/or will include the newly developed snacks in their diet.
The intervention in Spain is being carried out at the EURECAT Reus and Barcelona facilities, and at the school facilities in Turkey. It will last for three months, after which all collected data will be analyzed by CREDA – Centre de Recerca en Economia i Desenvolupament Agroalimentari. The findings will form the basis for several scientific publications and contribute to the development of Policy Guidelines for decision-makers.
