The Eurecat team from the Nutrition and Health Unit, in collaboration with the CREDA (Centre de Recerca en Economia i Desenvolupament Agroalimentari) team, participated in the fourth edition of “Terra i Gust”, the Sustainable Food Festival at Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona (Spain), organized by the Barcelona City Council.
As part of the project SWITCHtoHEALTHY, the teams hosted a workshop called “Colorful Hummus Collage”. This initiative directly engaged families involved in the SWITCHtoHEALTHY study, promoting the importance of healthy eating and of incorporating legumes into their diets.
On September 21st, the workshop attracted around 100 participants, including children and adults, who learned about the health benefits of legumes and the Mediterranean diet. Led by CREDA research technician Amèlia Sarroca and the Eurecat researchers Lorena Calderón and Alícia Domingo, participants crafted various hummus dishes, aiming to encourage the consumption of 4 to 7 weekly portions.
This activity was part of the event “Terra i Gust”, the Sustainable Food Festival of Barcelona City Council, dedicated to tastings, show cooking and workshops to build a more sustainable future, with fairer conditions for farming and the promotion of local products.
